DeBlasio isn’t a racist. He has a lot of authority over the NYPD. If the explanation is racism, you’d figure he’d exercise that authority and straighten it out. This can hardly have escaped his notice, after all.

Maybe he just has a big to-do list. We’ll see, I guess.

I knew you would be the one but I also notice you don’t offer another explanation. Just some half assed snark.

For the record, my contention isn’t that DeBlasio is racist. The justice system is racist. This was a problem long before he was elected. This was a problem long before I was a teenager in these neighborhoods and saw it and felt it for myself. This was a problem long before my father saw it and felt it for himself, and his father before him.

Or maybe black people are just more criminally inclined. //////

The criminal justice system has to work with behavior, not inclinations. It’s simply not true that the disparate rates of conviction are a consequence of disparate enforcement alone. There are disproportionate rates of committing the crime, when it comes to murder, for instance.

This particular study is not concerned with murder. Are there disproportionate rates of marijuana use/possession? If not, can you explain the disparity?

I don’t know, and if I did know, I would still not be in a position to attempt an explanation. Only thorough knowledge of the city and its subcultures can provide any place to stand from which to attempt an explanation. All I’m saying is that with the information we have from that article, you can say racial bias is one entirely plausible cause, but other reasons have not been examined and ruled out. And most likely, it’s a mix of things.

Shorter version of the above: My earlier replies were entirely pointless.

Of course, that article is the only information we have on the subject.//// I notice you didn’t mind bringing in outside information when you brought up murder rates.

Next time you need to take a dump, do it in your bathroom.

Have a nice life.
